IPTV: The future of live internet broadcasting

Posted Thursday, 04 August 2011, 12.03pm

IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) is a very exciting development recognised by The Challenge Factor for its enormous potential for real time multi way communications across multi locations with none of the buffering delays associated with traditional web streaming. If that all sounds like gobbledegook try this.

We have built a special broadcasting studio at our Manchester base that enables live broadcasting over the internet to any number of locations. For a trial a number of pubs were each equipped with their own special IPTV decoder. We created a Krypton Factor style quiz, with logic puzzles, video games and a picture quiz, which was broadcast to all the pubs at the same time. Hosted by Gordon Burns, the original quizmaster on The Krypton Factor, the quiz included interactive text messaging from the teams who were participating thus bringing participation in live TV to a pub near you.

There were some great prizes and the nature of the quiz meant that every team was in with a chance to win some big prizes right up to last orders.

Some of the pubs that took part in the trial included The Midway in Stockport, The Marple Tavern and Melandra Castle in Gamesley near Glossop.

This trial is now over but if you would like to register your interest in a future roll out please either send an email or use our contact form and indicate your interest in IPTV and we’ll keep you posted.

Alternatively, IPTV has many other uses including streaming a conference direct to company locations around the world, on line interactive training sessions as well as live broadcasting of key company messages. If that sounds of interest to you please use our contact form, call on 0161 928 5353 or send us an email .
